Going Glam...

Ok, so I'm on a roll today. The power has been fluttering which makes me antsy about doing actual work, so naturally I chose to play dress up!

I went to the Aoharu sale and picked up a few things, including this dress. I quite like it, though the sash at the top was a bit of a pain to adjust for my shape for some reason. There's a nice detail of lace overlay that really adds some depth to the dress. The shoes are also from Aoharu. The style is very cute, but I'm not fond of how much of my toes show at the top of the shoe. I don't know if that is a foot size issue or the particular skin I have on - or if it is actually the shoe. Otherwise, they are quite lovely!

Alexandra Nichols dropped a large review package on me a while back - and the jewelry I'm wearing is from her shop Dahlinks. Its a bold set called "The Management". I imagine you could wear it with a business suit, thus the name - though I wore it with something a bit more formal. The black jewels featured in the set are lovely, well textured and nicely shaped. The gold is a bit darker than I usually wear, but it seems to work for this ensemble. I'm wearing the bracelet and the ring in the set, there are matching earrings as well that aren't shown.

My only real qualm is the fact that they are no mod. I very rarely wear jewelry without having to adjust it in some way, so I strongly prefer mod jewelry. These pieces don't have resize scripts in them either, so if something happened to not fit well you would really just be stuck. Hopefully she has demos to try in the store so you can see how the pieces fit you. I've not been there yet, but I plan to go. Alexandra has another set that I really like that will be featured in another post, so I want to see what else tempts my eye there. All in all, worth checking out Dahlinks!

Casual Thursday!

So normally it is casual Friday, but work with me here, ok? I'm doing a pretty casual, comfortable look here using some of my fave designers. I've got a black sheer MichaMi shirt along with my favorite jeans of the moment - Zaara.

Pretty simple on the accessories (though I love accessories in general, as you will see as time goes on) I received this lovely necklace from the DSN Accessories server by Kunstkammer. I like it because it is delicate but you can still SEE it without zooming into someone's chest all the way. I love the ATOMIC canvas art tote - its exactly the sort of thing I would carry around in RL and the details are great, as you'd expect from ATOMIC.

Truth has been my go-to hair for weeks now with all his new releases that I can't resist. I love his texturing in browns - this one is Aradia in Chocolate. I've become a big fan of Symphony Skins when a friend told me about their big sale on the line that is being retired. There's an amazingly huge fatpack for sale for only 1200L if I remember correctly. This skin is a natural no-makeup look called Sunkissed in the Presto line. One last thing, the eyes I'm wearing are another gift from DSN from a store called Tacky Star. I hadn't heard of them, but the eyes are interesting so I plan to go check out their other offerings soon. They add a dash of unusual to this otherwise simple outfit. The name is Strange Purple Rainbow, which I find amusing enough on its own ;)

Life Changes and such!

Well, the best laid plans don't you know... I'd planned to start the blog in full force last month, but it took a bit longer than I thought to transition my RL job from working in an office to telecommuting - so that's what I've been doing! Finally finished and now things will be easier all around, including getting some posts done - as I get an extra 3 hours a day by no longer commuting in the traffic to work.

So look for my first post in the next day or so - very exciting! Till then...

Welcome to All That Glitters!

Welcome to All That Glitters...! I will try to make this blog entertaining and informative - otherwise, why would you read it? ;)

So I suppose some kind of introduction is in order. A friend asked what my reasons were for starting this blog... I am aware that there are a veritable crap load of Second Life (TM) blogs. There are also a lot of fashion blogs. So why start a new one? Well, I've been in this virtual world for over 3 years. As SL goes, that's a long damn time. I think that gives my opinion a bit of merit. I've been involved in a lot of different experiences in SL - seen a LOT of people and places come and go. I've seen drama-o-plenty and kindness so great it would make your heart sing. What does that have to do with fashion? Not a thing, I'm just waxing nostalgic I suppose.

I decided on a fashion blog because I love to dress my Avie up and take pretty pictures. But more importantly, I know what quality is in terms of Second Life fashion and I am honest. If there's an issue I will let you (and the designer of course) know - in a polite, non-bitchy, well written way. I know who most of the designers and people who run in fashion circles are (I am a practiced lurker) but I don't know any of them personally so I have no predisposition for or against anyone. My goal is a decently written blog about SL with good pictures and honest opinions that people find entertaining to read - and not all blogs achieve that, so I guess there's room for me!

There will be the occasional post non-related to fashion, but I think that's a good thing. There are so many other interesting things in Second Life, we should bring them some attention from time to time. Thanks for listening - now on with the show!
